Warm Bodies (2013)

Okay, so I only get the chance to watch Warm Bodies yesterday. It’s not like I didn’t want to watch it earlier but I just “couldn’t” procrastinate. Hahah (I did procrastinate from time to time actually, it’s just what I do. I mean, it’s just something I couldn’t control sometimes)

So…the  movie, for me it was fun! I had fun watching it. It’s hilarious. I know some people would say, “They finally made a zombie chick-flick” wanting to say that it would be just the same as Twilight, but no, Warm Bodies is different. (But I gotta admit though when Twilight was out, I was one of the fans hahah. I was 17 back then? Couldn’t recall)

But anyways, R is such a sweet guy! He’s sensitive but creepishly funny at the same time. I just love the way he talks to himself. Made me chuckle all the time. Hey, this is a girl talking so just bear with it :p

On to the soundtracks! It is one of those movies with an amazing sense of good music in it. Well, I’m not really familiar with the 80′s songs (except the ones that my parents listen to, that’s how I know some oldies), but the choices of songs are good. It made the film less chick flick-ish. Two of my favourites are Missing You by John Waite and Hungry Heart by Bruce Springsteen.

*Sings* “Since Bruce Springsteen, Madonna, way before Nirvana, there was U2 and Blondie, and music still on MTV”

Okay, I just found out that my coming Dermatology exam would have 100 questions! :O  I’m gonna be quick now.

I watched it here. Pretty good quality. That’s what you’d get for waiting.

And! Have you checked out The Hillywood Show’s parody of Warm Bodies? They are getting so much better with parodies now :)

Gotta go now! Next post would probably be in a week’s time. Or not. I don’t know, we’ll see. Toodles!

The Power of Gratitude

13 Jun

Don’t just focus on the big and obvious things you can be grateful for. Think about what very small things you can be grateful for too.

Last post was 8 days ago. I’ve been very, very busy lately. As usual, blame it all on Pharmacology. But.. I guess all of it was worth it. Alhamdulillah, I passed my Pharmacology course yesterday! :)  The oral exam with the professor was okay. I was nervous because people have been saying (and I’ve noticed) that the professor can be moody sometimes.

But yesterday, she was (yes, the Professor is a she) quite nice with us. Although we couldn’t answer all of her questions but she did try to make us pass our exam.

Alhamdulillah

Anyway, I stumbled upon an article this morning- The Power of Gratitude: 5 Simple Tips That Will Help You. It’s really good.

And recently, I’ve also watched a video about gratitude and one important point from it is that it’s not just about feeling it, but it’s also about expressing the gratitude.

So, express your gratitude! Say thanks more often! And..always consider the best when you feel the worst.

I have to study for tomorrow’s Paediatrics exam. Bye for now!

Feels Like Home

5 Jun

I’m counting days till I get back home. There are 27 days left!

Today, there were two incidents that made me feel like I was home in Malaysia.

One; it rained today!! Well it rained yesterday too but I was indoor, listening to a lecture. But today, the rain waited for me to get outside :)

It seldom rain in Warsaw. That’s why it always makes me feel like I am home whenever it rains, especially if the rain is accompanied by thunder and lightnings.

But the weather has been very peculiar recently. This year, winter last longer. It even snowed in March. So far spring was hot and cold. There were times when it felt like it was already summer and there were times when it rained quite heavily with lightnings and thunder. And there were flood in a few places in Europe, including Germany, Czech Republic and Austria.

Here’s the link if you’d like to see some pictures of the Flooding in Europe

Germany & Czech Republic are both next to Poland

So, one is the rain and the second is, I met 4 Malaysians on my way home from the MUW library. My friend and I was in the bus, we were chatting about some random things and suddenly, 2 chinese ladies asked us if we were Indonesians. So we told them we are Malaysians. Then they asked us where the Central Station is. Luckily, they asked us just before the Dworzec Centralny stop.

They looked kind of lost so my friend and I decided to stop at Centralny for a while to show directions and stuff. When we got down the bus, we met another 2 Malaysians there and they asked us the direction to an appartment they’ve booked.

It’s pretty complicated to use the underground in Warsaw to get from one tram stop to another that goes to a different direction. Well for first timers, it will be complicated if you’re not used to the public transport system in Europe. Seeing that they are not sure of where to go, we decided to send them till they reach the appartment. And we finally got to the correct place. It was near Hala Mirowska.

So, meeting some Malaysians whom you don’t know, not a Malaysian student, (when I am here in Poland) makes me feel like home. Really!

Okay, I gotta stop now and I have to STUDY! Pharmacology! Pharmacology! Pharmacology! Yay.

Epic Music!!! by Mark Petrie

5 Jun

I know I’ve mentioned again and again that I really love soundtracks and instrumentals but recently, I discovered Mark Petrie’s music (about a few days ago) and now I’m hooked to them.

So, I’m definitely sharing them here! These first three are my favourites – Game Changer, Lexicon and Omega Point :)

The first video that I stumbled upon was this one:

Down To Earth

4 Jun

Just a quick update here. When I was on my way home from Medicine of Disasters class, I bumped into one of my lecturer in the bus. She’s a cardiologist. At first I didn’t notice her, because the bus was kind of packed. My friend told me about her.

She was with a few of her friends and I was standing near the bus exit while she was sitting. So I just smiled at her and said hello. She smiled back. Why am I even writing this?

I am totally sleepy now. It’s only 10.34pm

Actually I do have a point in updating about it here. I just want to say that some people, no matter how high their rankings are in the society or at work, they are still humble and down to earth.

It doesn’t mean that if you’re a cardiologist, you have to drive expensive cars and you can’t take the public transport. No.

It doesn’t mean that if you’re one of the members of the royal family, you cannot dress up simply  just like all of us do.

Another example is also about one of my lecturer. This time a male doctor, a paediatrician. So we were doing our clinical in the children’s ward and as usual, before seeing a patient, we have to wash and disinfect our hands. So we went to the sink and washed our hands.

When our doctor noticed that there were no more paper towels, the doctor himself went to look for the paper towel. Then he came to us and brought the paper towel. The cute thing was, he didn’t bring the paper towel roll altogether, but he brought the paper towel that he unrolled himself.

Okay, I’m waaaayyyy too sleepy now. I’ll proofread this later hahah bye
