Amsterdam, April 2013

Greetings weblings! First of all, I would like to thank you and you and you for dropping by.

So, something about me. I’m a Malaysian and I’m currently studying medicine in Warsaw, Poland, struggling my way through 4th year of medical school. I can say that the lifestyle of a medical student may become pretty hectic sometimes, especially the times towards any examinations, but I do enjoy being one. Only sometimes. No, I’m just kidding. I enjoy being a medical student.

I have a facebook account, twitter account, youtube account, two tumblr blogs, two separate blogs on blogger, not forgetting myspace and friendster accounts which I have left them for like centuries. It seems like I have all those organised, like my favourite videos on youtube, cool stuff on tumblr, some writings on blogger but then I realised that I need a new port so I can stuff all my STUFF. And that’s how I got here.

I started to write here on 8th of February 2011. I write about about things that I like, things that are new to me, some news maybe, songs, movies, some medical stuff, not forgetting religious things, cool things that I found over the internet, my obsessions!! (because that’s what that drives me to write) etcetera etcetera..

I have interest in movies, musics, piano. I also have this huge thing for instrumentals, I sometimes dig the details about the music score of some films. I just LOVE FOOD. I prefer to be adventurous in eating, I like to try food that I haven’t tasted before. I do travel in the holidays. I still watch the old Disney sometimes. I love to browse the internet for nothing particular and ended up in something interesting and blog about it.

I consider this blog as my vault of memories. I can always look back things that I may have liked last year and have totally forgotten about it this year. It’s like a diary, only that it has videos and songs sometimes and it is also easy for me to refer to related things because I always link the related pages or sources. A massive diary, haha.

I guess that is all that I can think of  to write here. So, thanks again for dropping by!

p/s: I love to interact with people including people I don’t know, so you are very much welcomed to comment. Some suggestions would be nice too!

    Assalamualaikum!

I was searching for blogs of Malaysian students studying in Poland and happened to come across yours. I’ve been planning on studying in Poland and I was wondering what it’s like to live there. Did you experience any sort of culture shock there? I’m assuming that Poland isn’t as different as any of the English-speaking countries. Except for the language, I suppose. Speaking of language, what language do you mainly use there? Polish or English? Do Polish people speak English? I would really like to know more. I hope you reply soon!

      Waalaikumussalam Hanee :)

So far, Warsaw has been treating me well. Culture shock, I guess it didn’t occur to me. My classes and lectures are conducted in english. But I still have to learn the Polish language. It’s a tongue-twisting language, I can say!

The Poles here speak their native language most of the time. I think the youngsters know english but the usage are not that extensive.

When speaking of Poland, it’s not complete to not talk about the weather . The winter can be very cold. I’ve survived -20 degrees celcius, alhamdulillah. But this year, it has been quite warm, the lowest was -16, I think. “WARM” much..hahah

Seeing 0 degrees on the weather forecast during winter somehow makes me happy XD

Among the things I like about Warsaw, is its public transport. It’s so efficient and cheap! I only have to pay 100 zlottys which is equivalent to RM100++ for THREE MONTHS use of all public transports including the buses, trams and metro (the underground train).

I’ve been to Dublin and Paris, and the cost of transportation are way more expensive when compared to that of Poland.

What course are you going to pursue?

      • haneebunny February 19, 2013 at 2:38 am #

So far, Poland sounds interesting :D I guess the cost of using public transportation is REALLY important for students since we’ll be depending on them quite a lot.

The Weather…well, I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to survive. :P

About courses, well, I’ve always wanted to pursue a career in language, mainly English. But recently, I came across this study programme where I am required to do a Foundation in Science for 10 months, then at the end of the 10 month period, they (the urm…agency?) will send me to University of Information Technology and Management, Reszow to study IT. On semester breaks, they’ll find me a job so that I can pay back the fees and once I’ve completed my studies, I can continue living in Poland or I can return to Malaysia. It sounds pretty interesting but I really don’t know if this is that opportunity that I’ve always been looking for; the opportunity to study overseas. I really want to know what are your thoughts on this since you know what it’s like in Poland. I mean, have you ever heard of the university and if you have, is it a well-known university in Poland? What do you think about the job opportunities in IT in Poland? I’m just considering this option though I would really much prefer to study language.

      • almostawesome March 11, 2013 at 9:43 pm #

        Hii Hanee,
The university you mentioned is called UITM, yes UITM but in Rzeszow. How cool is that! There are, in fact, Malaysian students who are studying there.

I haven’t been to Rzeszow myself but if you could give me your email, I can ask one of the Malaysian students there to contact you. Or, you can search for Malaysian Students Society of Poland on Facebook.

        It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity! ;)
