Titanic Piano Solo – My Heart Will Go On by Mike Bivona

15 Apr

I made a comment and Mike Bivona replied! I was nearly screaming when I see that the comment came from Mike himself. But I managed to control my voice because I knew it was already about 1.45 a.m. At that moment I found my self doing some kind of ‘happy swag dance’  in front of my Mac :D

Here’s what I wrote:

whyyyyyyyy oh whyyyyyyy..!!!
why do u have to play it so beautifully :’)
i wish i could watch you play the piano in front of my eyes
XOXO

Mike Bivona replied:

do you live in the U.S? maybe I’ll stop by your house one day and play for you :)

I know you probably don’t want to know what I replied back to him, but just in case somebody might want to know, here’s what I replied:

omg!! Mike Bivona just replied to me! LOL
that’s sweet but unfortunately, i don’t live in the us :(
keep posting your videos!! :D

I’m happy! I’m happy! I’m happy!

Oh and by the way, it’s April 15, 2012 today. 100 years ago today, the ‘ship of dreams’, RMS Titanic sank after hitting an iceberg. Here’s my recent post about it.

p/s: Sorry for my extra-enthusiasm in this post. I guess I’m just too stressed with cramping my brains with Microbe and too excited upon receiving a reply from a professional pianist (besides my piano teacher).
Stressed + Excited = The Happy Swag Dance.

The Hunger Games (2012)

3 Apr

The full movie is finally up on movie2k. Here’s the link for you to watch it online. I have to admit that I didn’t watch this movie at the cinema when it came out. It’s not that I didn’t want to, but I just couldn’t. I was drowned in the middle of exams. Curse you, exams. LOL :D The quality for the movie in the link that I put above is…fairly fine. But in time, there will be even better quality. Who doesn’t want to watch it again, right?

As you may have known, this movie is based on the novel that goes by the same name. After watching the movie, I went through Wikipedia again and one thing that I might have missed earlier is regarding Suzanne Collins’ (the author) inspiration to write the trilogy.

Collins says that the inspiration to write The Hunger Games came from channel surfing on television. On one channel she observed people competing on a reality show and on another she saw footage of the invasion of Iraq. The two “began to blur in this very unsettling way” and the idea for the book was formed. The Greek myth of Theseus served as the basis for the story, with Collins describing Katniss as a futuristic Theseus, and that Roman gladiatorial games formed the framework. The sense of loss that Collins developed through her father’s service in the Vietnam War also affected the story, whose heroine lost her father at age eleven, five years before the story begins. Collins stated that the deaths of the young characters and other “dark passages” were the hardest parts of the book to write, but she had accepted she would be writing such scenes. She considered the moments where Katniss reflects on happier moments in her past to be the more enjoyable passages to write.

Pretty impressive. So that’s how some authors’ mind work…hmm

I’m not going to write about the actors and actresses here since I’m quite sure that everyone knows pretty well in that subject. But, it’s impossible for me not to write about the music score! It was composed by none other than one of my favourite, James Newton Howard. Although the score wasn’t as impressive as how he did in Peter Pan (check the link), I’m sure if it weren’t for the score, the movie would be dull. Don’t get me wrong, I still love it! That’s why Sebastian Wolff a.k.a. German Seabass arranged and made a piano cover for it, like he did for How To Train Your Dragon ;)  I’ll put the video below.

Regarding the story line, I don’t think I have the right to criticize on this matter since I haven’t read the book. But one thing I must say, (not to criticize but to give compliment), the story portrays how reality shows or media generally, can be misleading. Yes, we might knew it very well but we probably put it in the back of our mind, subconsciously. Well that’s the only thing that crosses my mind at the moment. And now I can’t wait  for the next sequel, Catching Fire which is scheduled to be released on November 22, 2013. Mocking Jay, soon ;)

I just realised that I haven’t made a post on How To Train Your Dragon! Unbelievable! Part of a post, yes, but one specific post, not yet. I will make one. I will make one.
